Gotham season two kicked off Monday night with a new, more serial nature and the much-hyped subtitle to the season, “Rise of the Villains.” That rise was shown right off in the first episode, SPOILERS AHEAD, with an Arkham breakout, new characters introduced, and a death designed to show folks who exactly is giving the orders around Gotham City nowadays. Meanwhile, Penguin is the king of the underworld, and even Nygma is seeing his dark side quite literally trying to break out of him. END OF SPOILERS

But those new villains in particular, the Galavan siblings, struck our interest. When the first image of Theo Galavan and the man who turned out to just be a bit of a loon in a costume cropped up, it made us start thinking about the Court of Owls. Coupled with the fact that Jessica Lucas and James Frain told me during a set visit that they were on “a mission of revenge” and had “a long family history in Gotham City,” it seemed like this relatively new part of the DC Universe might be getting a live screen adaptation sooner than later.

During a phone conversation with executive producer and showrunner Bruno Heller, he candidly talked about fan theories, telling ComicBook.com, “everyone’s opinion has been valid and has to be listened to,” expounding on the fact that the characters and concepts they’re playing with are “about the interplay between what we’re doing and what the audience would like to see and how they react.”

In that vein, I asked, well, what about the theory that the Galavan siblings’ long history in Gotham means the Court of Owls is coming, or is that at least something he’s interested in exploring?

“Yeah, absolutely, [I'm interested]. I won’t say that it’s part of – I don’t even want to say that, because I don’t want to spoil part of the story,” Heller said after a bit of a chuckle. He continued, “The Court of Owls is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology. The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the ‘Nolan-era Batman movie fans’ and the comic book fans. It’s not that they’re two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. Court of Owls is very much deep DC mythology.

“We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line. Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can’t just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once,” he explained - he even noted earlier during the conversation that he felt they made a mistake trying to throw too much into season one. Heller didn’t mince words, though, and did say definitively, “The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne’s journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham. The Court of Owls is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won’t tell you when.”

The Court of Owls debuted in the “New 52” era of DC Comics that saw every issue relaunched in a new, modern version of their universe. In the Batman comic book by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, they revealed that Gotham City has had a secret society behind it for generations known as the Court of Owls. Populated by some of Gotham’s oldest families, the Court uses their assassins known as Talons (think slightly less-trained and more-psychotic versions of Batman) to alter the course of the city’s history.

Will the Galavans be the entry into the Court, with their century-old grudge against the city and its families? Perhaps, but one way or another, Gotham fans, the Court of Owls is “absolutely” on its way.

By Anthony Couto Marvel is relaunching The Amazing Spider-Man comic series under their All-New All-Different banner, giving the wall-crawler a high-tech redesign from legendary artist Alex Ross and a whole new Iron Man-influenced status quo under the pen of writer Dan Slott and artist Giuseppe Camuncoli.

Speaking to MTV about Spider-Man’s new responsibilities as head of Parker Industries, Slott said, “Peter Parker has stepped up. He’s grown. He’s become the Peter Parker we’ve always hoped he was going to be. …This company, with Peter’s inventions and Peter’s gumption has gone to new heights.”

Gone are the days of a New York-bound Spidey, as Slott says the new series will showcase the hero as a “globe-spanning entrepreneur and inventor” who heads a “less angsty” version of Stark Industries.

“He’s operating with Parker Industries in not just New York, but also Shanghai and San Francisco and London,” Slott said. “He’s going to be a far more global Spider-Man, and with that is going to come all new global threats. Things that will really test Spider-Man like never before.”

Courtesy of acclaimed Kingdom Come artist Alex Ross, Spider-Man’s suit is also getting a tech-heavy upgrade. Peter Parker will be using his Spidey persona as a public disguise, and treat the persona as a high-tech security measure for his company.

“The things this suit will be able to do and the innovations that Peter Parker has put into it will be astounding,” the writer explained. “And when you want to take something to the next level, you go, and make it look real, you go, 'Hey Alex Ross, take your best shot.’”

Fortunately for fans of the Spider-Mobile, the classic vehicle is also coming back with a redesign for the new series, which editor Nick Lowe promises will make an appearance in the first issue – wherein Spidey will drive the streets of Shanghai.

It’s not just about tech in the new series, as Slott teases there will be a love triangle for Peter Parker (hinted in the first issue cover image), saying, “One of the things I always loved was there was always a triangle. …There’s all these characters who are vying for Pete’s attention and I think you’re going to get back to that. You’re going to see all kinds of different characters we know and care about.”

Falling out of the events of Marvel’s Secret Wars, Miles Morales (created as the Ultimate Universe’s Spider-Man) will play a supporting role in the book, which Slott says will offer fans a more classic, high school-centric version of Spider-Man.

“What you’re going to get from Miles is you’re going to get classic Spider-Man. A teenager in high school having problems and trying to deal with things. … And when you’re reading Peter Parker Amazing Spider-Man, you’re going to get the Spider-Man you’ve been reading about since 1962 going to all new levels. Can he do the street stuff? Sure, but he can do that times 10. It’s everything you know, everything you care about, amped up to a level you’ve never seen before."

Miles Morales is also headlining his own solo book by writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Sara Pichelli, simply titled Spider-Man.

Assassin's Creed is an upcoming comic series published by Titan Comics.^[1] An ongoing series,^[2] the first issue is slated for release in October 2015.^[3]

The first story arc will be taking place in the late 17th century, during the Salem witch trials, with the parallel modern-day part featuring an espionage tale.^[4]

Synopsis :

Even before we saw the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer that debuted at Comic-Con, there have been numerous rumors about the inclusion of General Zod, played by Michael Shannon in 2013's Man of Steel. A rumor from August claimed that the character's corpse has been obtained by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), and while we don't know that for sure, we did clearly see Zod's corpse in the second trailer.

Vulture caught up with Michael Shannon during a screening of his new film 99 Homes, where he shared an intriguing story about his time on the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set, that raises more questions than answers."I was in my costume, and I couldn't use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn't open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, 'Where's Shannon? Where the fuck is he?' and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, 'Let me out of here!'"If you're wondering what these flippers are, so are we, because Zod doesn't have any flippers in the comics.

There are many fans who speculate that Zod may actually be resurrected as the iconic Doomsday villain, since many were shocked that Zod was killed off in 2013's Man of Steel. Director Zack Snyder defended the massive fight between Zod and Superman in a recent interview, but he didn't give any clues that hint at Zod turning into Doomsday.Doomsday was recently described as the "muscle" for Lex Luthor, but, even if Doomsday is a part of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, we don't know for sure if Zod will become Doomsday, or if this incarnation of Doomsday will have a different origin. Still, the reason for Michael Shannon's flippers, be they related to Doomsday or not, will remain a burning question, for now at least.

The actor was also asked about how his flippers related to the scenes shown in the trailer, but it seems the actor hasn't caught the new footage yet."Well, I haven't seen the trailer either, so I don't know what I am in the trailer. I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don't know."Do you have any theories about Zod's flippers in this superhero movie? Perhaps Zod's corpse does actually become a new character, but it's not Doomsday, perhaps someone with a connection to Jason Momoa's Aquaman.
