Warner Bros. Animation Producer Says "Killing Joke" Adaptation "Could Be" Rated R !!!!!
Bruce Timm will be involved with "The Killing Joke" animated adaptation.
"Batman: Bad Blood" producer James Tucker revealed the animated adaptation of "The Killing Joke" has the potential to be rated R during a Friday night panel at New York Comic Con. CBR has reached out for comment.
When asked about the shift from adaptations of comics to original features, Tucker said, “At first we were pretty much told that’s what we were going to do." He mentioned that, of the three annual films, one tends to be an adaptation, with the next being “Killing Joke.” "They said we could make it an R" for "Killing Joke," Tucker said, quickly adding, "[I'm] not saying that’s what it will be, but we’ll see.”
Following the panel, reports began to surface stating that he had announced the film would receive an R-rating. Tucker took to Twitter to clarify, writing,
Written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland, "The Killing Joke" is one of the most iconic and acclaimed Joker stories, along with one of the most controversial, primarily stemming from its depiction of brutal violence against Barbara Gordon. In "The Killing Joke," Joker shoots Gordon and leaves her paralyzed. It's been commonly interpreted, though not specifically stated on the page, that the character was also raped. Earlier this year, DC Comics debuted a "Batgirl" variant cover using imagery inspired by "The Killing Joke," quickly drawing vocal criticism. The cover was later pulled at the request of its artist, Rafael Abuquerque.
The latest in the long-running series of direct-to-home release, DC Comics-based animated feature, "Batman: The Killing Joke" is expected for release sometime next year.

NYCC: JAMES CAMERON ANNOUNCES "AVATAR" COMICS FROM DARK HORSE !!!!!
James Cameron and Dark Horse Comics have announced a partnership to expand the world of "Avatar" in comics as part of a 10-year licensing deal.
While Cameron was unable to attend the New York Comic Con panel where the announcement was made, the director recorded a video explaining that the comics will cover "the time before, during, and after the events of the original 'Avatar' film."
The highest-grossing film of all time, with a global box office haul of $2.788 billion, "Avatar" is set in in the mid-22nd century, where humanity, having depleted Earth's natural resources, begins to mine the distant forested moon Pandora, threatening the indigenous Na'vi. To safely explore Pandora, whose atmosphere is poisonous to humans, scientists develop Na'vi-human hybrids called "avatars."
Sam Worthington stars as Jake Sully, a paraplegic former Marine who replaces his deceased twin as an operator of one, and gains the trust of the N'avi, becoming embroiled in a fight to save Pandora from mining.
Cameron has announced plans to produce three "Avatar" sequels, filmed simultaneously, with the first targeted for release in 2017. The subsequent installments would arrive in 2018 and 2019.
A themed area called "Pandora -- The World of 'Avatar'" is also being constructed in Disney's Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World in Florida.

FRANK MILLER'S "DARK KNIGHT III" WRAPAROUND VARIANT REVEALED !!!!!!
Frank Miller's first "Dark Knight III" cover shared a look at the legendary creator's take on Superman and the Atom. Now, with the release of his limited-edition wraparound variant, we get to see the title character, poised and ready for bloody action.
Unveiled this morning by DC Comics, the cover is a 1:100 variant for "Dark Knight III: The Master Race" #1, colored by Alex Sinclair.
Debuting Nov. 25, the miniseries is written by Miller and Brian Azzarello, and illustrated by Andy Kubert and Klaus Janson, Each issue will include a minicomic that focuses on a differentcharacter in the world of the Dark Knight, drawn by various artists. Miller himself will pencil "Dark Knight Universe Presents: The Atom" #1.
The release of Miller's Superman illustration was met Monday by a mix of confusion and criticism. However, "Astro City" writer Kurt Busiek mounted a convincing argument in support the cover, insisting, "Frank’s drawing it the way he wants the idea of this raw, crude, powerful idea to come across, not the way Neal or Curt or anyone else drew. ... He’s powerful, ugly, Eastwood-mad, with Kirby fists and a noticeable dick. This isn’t by mistake, it’s not lack of control."
