Ben Affleck reiterates Spring 2017 start for Batman Movie

Ben Affleck reiterates Spring 2017 start for Batman Movie

Despite saying earlier this week that he is a believer in “not reverse engineering projects to meet a window or a date,” Ben Affleck reiterated to Variety that plans are still on for his solo Batman movie to shoot in the spring of 2017.

“We’re on the right track with that and everything is coming together. We’re still finishing up a script. I’m very excited.”
Affleck also opened up about what came before him as well, saying:
“I respect all of those [Batman] movies. Christopher Nolan did an incredible job, Christian Bale did an incredible job, Tim Burton did an incredible job. At a certain point you have to look forward and try to believe in your own vision for it and not be looking over your shoulder the whole time. I go into that movie with a tremendous amount of respect for the people who came before me.”
Joe Manganiello will face off against Ben Affleck’s Batman in the film as Deathstroke, after first making his debut in the upcoming Justice League, with additional appearances by Jeremy Irons as Alfred and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon expected to happen as well. Affleck will both star in the film and sit in the director’s chair. DC Entertainment President and CCO Geoff Johns will serve as co-writer (with Affleck) and producer.
An official release date for the Batman film hasn’t been set, but it was previously reported the film could take the June 14, 2019 release date that had been set aside for the Justice League sequel.

Zack Snyder teases Superman’s presence in Justice League
Following the new photo from Justice League that was released yesterday, Empire is back with a high-res version of the photo and even a quote from director Zack Snyder about the elephant in the room, or rather, the Man of Steel.
“Superman does play a big part in this movie,” Snyder tells the outlet. “His presence, and lack of presence, are big story points…”
As you may recall from the ending of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the Man of Steel didn’t make it out of the film alive, though the final seconds of the feature teased he would return. Star Henry Cavill also teased the character’s infamous “black suit” last year, a costume that the hero wore in the pages of DC Comics following his resurrection. What role do you think Superman will play in the film? Sound off below!
Justice League also stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane.
While not in the official Justice League cast list released by Warner Bros., it is expected that Ciarán Hinds will play Steppenwolf, Amber Heard will appear as Mera, and Kiersey Clemons will appear as Iris West.
Fueled by the hero’s restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, the screenplay is by Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio. The producers are Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Jon Berg and Geoff Johns. The executive producers are Jim Rowe, Wesley Coller, Curt Kanemoto, Chris Terrio and Ben Affleck.
Justice League will open in theaters on November 10 2017.

BLACK ADAM GETS HIS OWN MOVIE

BLACK ADAM GETS HIS OWN MOVIE
'Shazam' Villain Spins Off With 'The Rock' in Lead Role
Megastar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is set to get a standalone film for Shazam’s arch-nemesis Black Adam reports THR.
THR indicated that the move resulted from a recent meeting between Johnson and DC CCO Geoff Johns.
Johnson confirmed that he was playing Black Adam in 2014 (see “The Rock To Play 'Black Adam' In 'Shazam' Movie”), but THR reports that he has been attached since 2008. In that time, Johnson has helped revive the Fast & Furious and G.I. Joe franchises, led Disney’s Moana to the top of the box office (see “'Moana's' Turkey Day Triumph--Another Win for Disney”), and generally put a bankable shine on anything he’s starred in.
Given Johnson’s verifiable star power, New Line and DC doubled down on Shazam, bumping Black Adam from supporting character in one tentpole to starring character in his own film. The new film reportedly mirrors Johns’ comics version of the character, an antihero who battles enemies who would enslave his people.

James Cameron Returning to Terminator Franchise, Tim Miller in Talks to Direct

James Cameron Returning to Terminator Franchise, Tim Miller in Talks to Direct

James Cameron, who pioneered the rise of the machines alongside star Arnold Schwarzenegger in “The Terminator” and “T2: Judgement Day,” is officially returning to reboot — and conclude — the franchise.

Deadline reported Friday that as the rights to the Terminator franchise will revert back to Cameron in 2019, and he’s in early talks with “Deadpool” director Tim Miller — who isn’t returning for the sequel to that comic book-based smash hit — to helm a “reboot and conclusion” of the franchise. According to sources, Skydance producer David Ellion will fund an exploratory committee to revive the franchise once Cameron regains the rights.
In addition to fleshing out the story with Cameron, Skydance also looks to assemble a team of science fiction authors to work on the project. This news comes on the heels of the poorly received forth Terminator film, “Terminator Genisys,” which grossed $90 million domestically in 2015.
With “Terminator Genisys'” lower-than-expected box office returns, the future of the franchise was left in the air. Now it seems that Skydance is determined to conclude the franchise with Cameron back at the helm. Deadline’s report discloses that it’s not yet known how deep the reboot plans are — whether it’s a total reboot or picking up after “T2,” the last film in the franchise directed by Cameron.

Justice League: Is This Our First Look at Superman’s Black Costume?

Justice League: Is This Our First Look at Superman’s Black Costume?

The black costume debuted in DC Comics’ sweeping 1992-93 storyline “The Death and Return of Superman,” elements of which played out in last year’s “Batman v Superman,” where the Man of Steel seemingly met his end in a battle with Doomsday, and will continue this year in “Justice League.”

Director Zack Snyder joked last summer that Superman’s return in the ensemble film might remain faithful to certain elements of the 1990s mega-arc, in which the Last Son of Krypton returned sporting what’s widely characterized as a mullet. “[His hair] should be perfect,” he said. “A little longer, I guess! That’s what the myths are anyway.”
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, in “Justice League” Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes, it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Opening Nov. 17, “Justice League” stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Raymond Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Amber Heard as Mera and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon.

Syfy’s Happy! Adaptation Casts Female Lead for Pilot

Syfy has just cast actress Lili Mirojnick as the female lead in the pilot “Happy!” (via The Hollywood Reporter) which will co-star actor Chris Meloni. The upcoming series is based on the comic of the same name that was published by Image Comics and written by Grant Morrison with artwork from Darick Robertson.

Meloni will star as Nick Sax, a detective turned hired killer, while the newly announced Mirojnick will play the role of Det. Meredith McCarthy, a character described as “a tough homicide detective in a man’s world.”

The show will follow Meloni’s Nick Sax, a character described as a corrupt ex-cop turned hitman, as he makes his way through a world full of “casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal.”

Mirojnick is perhaps best known for her work in films such as “Cloverfield” and “Friends with Benefits,” however, she has also appeared in television shows such as “Person of Interest” and “Grimm.”

Director Brian Taylor (“Crank,” “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance”) will direct the pilot which was written by Morrison, and both men will pull double duty as they will also executive produce the series alongside Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, and Toby Jaffe of Original Film. This marks Morrison’s second project in development with the network as he is also at work on a small screen adaption of “Brave New World” for Syfy.

Jason Momoa Grateful For Aquaman Role

Jason Momoa Grateful For Aquaman Role

It has been more than two years since actor Jason Momoa was announced in the role of Aquaman in DC’s Extended Universe, and in that time, we’ve only seen him suit up for “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” However, that changes this year with the release of “Justice League,” followed in 2018 by his solo film.

RELATED: Momoa Reveals “Aquaman” Stars Filming in Spring, Calls Snyder a Genius

Momoa, who’s perhaps best known for playing Khal Drogo on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” was attached to the role long before Warner Bros. confirmed his involvement with the 2014 announcement of its DC Films slate. But while he wasn’t confirmed as Aquaman until October 2014, Momoa knew he had the role long before then.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his upcoming Netflix drama “Frontier,” Momoa revealed he’d actually known he’d be playing DC’s sea king as far back as 2012 or 2013. “Knowing what your future is going to be in the next five or six years and having to keep your mouth shut is brutal,” he said. Although that’s understandable, that’s become the norm when it comes to superhero roles.

Despite that difficulty, Momoa wouldn’t change it for the world, proclaiming that this “has been the best moment” of his career. While Momoa was known for his work on genre shows like “Game of Thrones” and “Stargate: Atlantis” and films like “Conan the Barbarian” and “Wolves,” it wasn’t easy for him to land the kinds of roles he wanted. By signing on as Aquaman, however, Momoa has opened the doors to other possibilities and has been able to be more selective with his projects.

Along with his future as Aquaman, Momoa also has the upcoming reboot of “The Crow,” as well as “The Bad Batch,” a film by Ana Lily Amirpour, the acclaimed director of “A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night.”

The actor is gearing up to begin production on “Aquaman” in Australia, where he’ll work with director James Wan. Joining him in the upcoming feature are Amber Heard, who will make her debut as Mera in “Justice League,” Willem Dafoe, who’ll reprise his role as Vulko, and Patrick Wilson, who was recently announced as Aquaman’s half-brother, Orm Marius, aka the Ocean Master.

“Aquaman” will hit the big screen on Oct. 5, 2018. But before then, audiences will see Momoa as Aquaman in director Zack Snyder’s “Justice League,” alongside Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher. That film arrives Nov. 17.
