HARLEY QUINN SPINOFF MOVIE GETS TITLE, DIRECTOR 'Gotham City Sirens'

Warner Bros. planned Suicide Squad spinoff starring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn took several steps forward today with the announcement of David Ayer as the director and the title Gotham City Sirens, THR is reporting.
The movie, which will feature all female villains, is based on DC’s comic book series Gotham City Sirens, which features Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy. DC’s Geoff Johns and Jon Berg will serve in a producorial role, and Robbie will executive produce.
Ayer directed Suicide Squad, which grossed over $745.6 million globally and just released on home video (see “DVD Round-Up: 'Suicide Squad,' 'Miss Peregrine's,' 'Fear the Walking Dead,' 'Legend of Korra,' & 'Star Trek'”). Margot Robbie was already working on the film back in May with plans to reprise her Suicide Squad role as well as produce (see “Harley Quinn Headlining DC Spinoff Film”).
Christina Hodson, who wrote the script for Transformers spinoff Bumblebee began working on a script in November (see “'Bumblebee' Writer Tackling Harley Spinoff”), but apparently has been replaced by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, screenwriter of the upcoming Tomb Raider remake and Sherlock Holmes 3.
A release date has not been announced, but the project is on a fast-track according to THR.

Marvel Vs. Capcom: Infinite is Arriving in 2017 !!!!

Marvel has revealed more details, reflected below.

Confirming widespread rumors, a new installment of the “Marvel vs. Capcom” crossover fighting-game franchise was officially announced today during The PlayStation Experience.

The first game in the series since 2011, “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” will arrive late next year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.

Marvel-vs-capcom infinite !!!

Character details scant but the teaser trailer suggests Capcom favorites may face off not against classic Marvel Comics heroes, or their animated counterparts, but instead characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. (Only Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Ryu and Mega Man X have been announced so far.) That’s probably to be expected, given the blockbuster popularity of Marvel’s movie properties and Fox’s control of the X-Men film rights.

According to PlayStation, “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” will include a variety of single-player modes and multi-player content, and feature Infinity Stones, which “can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle.” An announcement from Marvel adds, “In addition to single-player Arcade, Training and Mission modes, a visually stunning and immersive cinematic Story Mode will put players at the center of both universes as they battle for survival against a sinister new threat.”

Rumors of the PlayStation Experience announcement emerged last weekend with apparently leaked teaser images for “Marvel vs. Capcom 4.”

An extended trailer for “Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite” will debut Sunday on ESPN during the Capcom Cup 2016 broadcast.

Justice League Action: Everything We Know About the Cartoon Network Series !!!!!

Justice League Action: Everything We Know About the Cartoon Network Series !!!!!

Those of you, who love the Justice League  animated series a new series  returned  to Cartoon Netwok  !!!!

Justice League Action: Everything We Know About the Cartoon Network Series

Fifteen years after the premiere of “Justice League,” DC Comics‘ greatest heroes return to animated television Friday, Dec. 16, in the United States with “Justice League Action,” and they’ve brought along some friends. A lot of friends.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, the new Cartoon Network series probably has more in common with “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” than with “Justice League” or “Justice League Unlimited,” as it teams DC icons — first and foremost, Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman — with a roster of lesser-known heroes. Oh, and there are plenty of villains, too, both big and small, from classics like The Joker to Chronos, to newer nemeses like Dex-Starr.

Justice League Action” also eschews the traditional 22-minute animated format in favor of 11-minute episodes, which means the emphasis will be on, well, action. It’s right there in the title.

To get you ready for the series premiere, we’ve broken down everything we know (so far) about “Justice League Action.”

It Was Originally Planned as a Batman Series

Although the short-lived “Beware the Batman” had ended only in 2014, the project that would become “Justice League Action” was supposed to be Cartoon Network’s latest Batman cartoon.

“Originally, we were supposed to be doing another Batman series,” producer Butch Lukic, whose credits include “Batman: The Animated Series” and “Batman Beyond,” revealed in July at Comic-Con International. “But me and Alan [Burnett] got together with the whole team and then eventually, a week later, it was suggested we do a Justice League show instead. There was a gap between a new series [and the last one], plus the new movie is coming out, so we got the go-ahead to do a Justice League series.”

Season One Features More Than 150 DC Characters

Well, 152 to be exact. Of those, Lukic said about 60 are superheroes, 40 are villains, and the remainder supporting players. Most of the episodes will feature at least one of DC’s Trinity — Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman — partnered with a veritable who’s who of the DC Universe (seriously, you may need to dust off a copy of “Who’s Who in the DC Universe”). Along with the likes of Hawkman, Stargirl, Blue Beetle and Plastic Man, between the Comic-Con highlight reel and leaked concept art we’ve seen such characters as Mongul, Big Barda, Doctor Light, Shazam, Vixen, Mr. Terrific and Killer Croc. But that barely scratches the surface.

DC Entertainment approached the series with a clear idea of which character should appear. “They gave us a list at first,” Lukic said. “That was based originally on the [New] 52 comics. The list of characters in there were what they wanted, and it was pretty much the ones everyone wants, plus some odd ones. We definitely got most of those in, plus a few that we thought of that would fit.”

Expect the Unexpected

Unexpected team-ups, that is. As you might expect from the eclectic cast of characters, some of the pairings are unusual, to say the least. For instance, in the highlight reel we see Batman with Etrigan the Demon and Wonder Woman take on Lobo, while in one of the clips Superman seemingly “rescues” The Joker from Mongul.

Marvel Announces Darth Maul Series From Cullen Bunn, Luke Ross

Marvel’s “Star Wars” line will continue to turn out new titles in 2017, and the fan favorite short-lived Sith Lord will be one of the line’s new stars. As revealed by USA Today, a new limited series starring Darth Maul will arrive in 2017. “Darth Maul” will be written by Cullen Bunn (“Uncanny X-Men,” “The Sixth Gun”) with art by Luke Ross” (Marvel’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” adaptation).

The limited series is set before the angry Sith Lord’s debut in 1999’s “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” a film that ended with the evil Jedi defeated and cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi. This series will show part of Maul’s origin as he trains under Darth Sidious, the man that would eventually become Emperor Palpatine. And no, Maul’s not the kind to take orders easily. And because he’s forbidden from engaging the Jedi in combat just yet, Maul instead takes out his frustration on the denizens of the dark underworld of the cosmos.

But Maul will run across a young Jedi padawan named Eldra Kaitis — a padawan that he both wants to test his own mettle against and potentially turn tot he dark side.

In an accompanying interview, Bunn told USA Today that he looked to Ray Park’s performance as Maul in his lone feature film appearance for inspiration. “I like seeding where that impatience and anger comes from,” said Bunn, referencing his caged animal ready to pounce body language during the film’s climactic two-on-one lightsaber duel. Bunn also teased that Darth Sidious will not be a “very warm teacher.”

Marvel’s “Darth Maul” limited series follows in a now long line of series focusing on one particular character. Previous limited series include “Princess Leia,” “Chewbacca,” “Lando,” “Han Solo” and “Obi-Wan and Anakin.” “Darth Maul” is slated to arrivein early 2017.
