The Dark Knight Returns Used As Major Plot Point In Girl Meets World Episode On Disney Channel !!!

In July, The Disney Channel series Girl Meets World aired an episode about the use of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns graphic novel in a high school classroom.

As io9 reports, the episode is titled “Girl Meets the New Teacher.” Said new teacher is Harper Burgess, who uses Miller’s 1986 Batman story as part of her lesson plan, right alongside Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. The dark and violent graphic novel is challenged by the school’s principle, in a showdown apparently meant to mirror the confrontation between Batman and Superman in TKDR.

The episode is likely meant as a follow-up to the “Back 2 School” episode of predecessor Boy Meets World, the plot of which had a new teacher using X-Men comics as part of his lesson plan. Still, it’s a little odd to see a Disney Channel show using a DC Comics classic, especially one that is the basis for Batman v. Superman, as a major plot point when Marvel’s Civil War probably could have been used to the same effect.

WWE Cuts Ties With Hulk Hogan As Racist Rant Surfaces !!!

Few professional wrestlers have cut as large a figure on the pop culture landscape as Hulk Hogan. For millions of young fans growing up in the 1980s, Hogan was a real-life superhero who encouraged them to say their prayers, take their vitamins and stand up for what’s right — which makes today’s revelation of racist comments made by the grappler all the more shocking.

This morning, the National Enquirer and RadarOnline released a joint story involving taped conversations in which Hogan repeatedly used the N-word, complaining about his daughter dating a black man and stating, “I am a racist, to a point” and “I guess we’re all a little racist.” According to RadarOnline and The Enquirer, transcripts of the conversation have been filed in Florida court, sealed with the intent that they not be made public.

Last night, WWE began scrubbing its website of all mentions of Hogan, taking down stories highlighting his numerous accomplishments over the decades, removing his name from their Hall of Fame and deleting pages from its online store selling products bearing his image and catchphrases. Rumors surfaced on Twitter that an incident from the iconic grappler’s past, possibly related to the sex tape that surfaced several years back, was about to become public. Hogan’s comments were reportedly captured as part of that sex tape with Heather Clem, radio host Bubba the Love Sponge’s ex-wife. A portion of the tape was posted on Gawker in 2012, leading to a currently ongoing $100 million invasion-of-privacy lawsuit between Hogan and Gawker Media.

Once the story went wide, WWE quickly released a statement to the Enquirer, stating, “WWE terminated its contract with Terry Bollea (aka Hulk Hogan). WWE is committed to embracing and celebrating individuals from all backgrounds as demonstrated by the diversity of our employees, performers and fans worldwide.”

A representative for Hogan says the performer had already resigned from the company.

Hours after his comments became public, Hogan issued a statement of his own to People Magazine apologizing for what he had said.

“Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs.”

Today, AMC will debut character portraits for the first season of their forthcoming seris Fear the Walking Dead. !!!

The Walking Dead season five has been long completed, however, a deleted scene has found its way online.

The clip, which features Rick and Michonne, adds a bit of extra layers to Michonne hitting Rick with her sword as he draws his hidden gun on the people of Alexandria during his fight with Pete. The pair of Safe-Zone Constables discuss Rick's trust in the Alexandria residents but his having a back-up plan or two. When he concludes Michonne still has her sword if things get out of hand quicky, it's doubtful he expects she'll have to use it to club him down a little later.

EXCLUSIVE: First Look at Fear The Walking Dead's Ofelia Salazar Character Portrait !!!!

Today, AMC will debut character portraits for the first season of their forthcoming series  Fear the Walking Dead

They've provided Comicbook.com with a first look at Ofelia Salazar, played by Mercedes Mason on the show.

Living in the same universe as The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead is a gritty drama that explores the onset of the undead apocalypse through the lens of a fractured family.

"There's no question what world this is, absolutely," Mason said during an interview at Comic-Con International: San Diego. "I think in character, we all get informed at different levels at different times, and as human beings, we all can only digest and process things at different moments, even if they all have experienced the same things. I play a parent and for a lot of it, our job is to protect them from even seeing whatever it is that we don't understand, until we can't. Because I play a nursing student, at some point I become informed about the reality of our world more than other characters -- and then we all come together and realize we're in deep s--t."

Set in a city where people come to escape, shield secrets, and bury their pasts, a mysterious outbreak threatens to disrupt what little stability high school guidance counselor Madison Clark and English teacher Travis Manawa have managed to assemble. The everyday pressure of blending two families while dealing with resentful, escapist, and strung out children takes a back seat when society begins to break down.

A forced evolution, a necessary survival of the fittest takes hold, and their dysfunctional family must either reinvent themselves or embrace their darker histories.

Fear the Walking Dead premieres Sunday, August 23 at 9pm ET/PT on AMC.

Xena : Warrior Princess " Reboot Headed to NBC !!!!

NBC is in the early stages of developing a modern reboot of “Xena: Warrior Princess” with original executive producers Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The network is currently seeking writers for the reboot and it is unclear what role Lucy Lawless, the original star, will have in the series. Lawless has been vocal about her desire to return to the roll, hinting at a revival series for years and reiterating that at this month’s Comic-Con International. The new Xena is described as “a sophisticated and smart superhero for a new generation,” having “the charisma and charm of Lawless and the smarts of ‘The Hunger Games” Katniss.”

Xena debuted on the 1995 “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” episode “Unchained Hearts.” Originally intended to die off in her first appeared, the character was instead spun off into her own syndicated series that aired from 1995 to 2001. The heroine spent her days traveling with companion Gabrielle (Renee O’Connor), battling injustice in all forms from man to monster to myth. Since the show ended, rumors have swirled about a big-screen version that hasn’t panned out yet. However, Xena has appeared in a straight-to-video animated movie with Herc, a series of novels, various video games and comic series’ from Topps Comics, Dark Horse and Dynamite Entertainment.

Lawless has kept busy since the 2001 Xena finale. After a series of TV movies and guest spots she played D’Anna Biers on “Battlestar Galactica,” voiced Wonder Woman in the direct-to-video “New Frontier” animated movie, a role on the short-lived superhero-themed “No Ordinary Family” and appeared as Lucretia in both “Spartacus: Gods of the Arena” and “Spartacus: War of the Damned.” She’s also had a recurring role on “Parks and Recreation” and “Ash vs. the Evil Dead” and appeared on Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

The network is reportedly eyeing a 2016 date for the new drama.
