"Power Rangers" Steps Into The Modern Era With First Look At Movie Suits !!!!

The kick-flips and "morphin time!" talk may remain the same, but when it comes to the look of the "Power Rangers," things have definitely been updated for the new Lionsgate film.

Today the studio revealed a first look at the uniforms for the teen superhero team for director Dean Israelite's reinvention of the beloved kids franchise via Entertainment Weekly.

prangers
Described by the magazine as "translucent extraterrestrial armor that crystallizes around their bodies," the new suits come courtesy of the film's production designer Andrew Menzies who said, "It’s tricky finding a new language for a superhero costume...Ours is an alien costume that grows on them, that’s not man-made. You can’t win everyone over, but we are trying to appeal to a more mature audience and gain new fans."

Meanwhile, director Dean Israelite explained, "The show was about kids coming of age, about metamorphosis. These suits needed to feel like they were catalyzed by these kids and their energy, their spirit." And Yellow Ranger actress Becky G enthused, "It’s the coolest costume ever. I’m gonna wear it for Halloween for, like, five years."

Also starring Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa, Ludi Lin as Black Ranger Zack, Dacre Montgomery as Red Ranger Jason, Naomi Scott as Pink Ranger Kimberly, and RJ Cyler as Blue Ranger Billy, "Power Rangers" opens on March 24, 2017.

The Next Character To Jump From ‘The Walking Dead’ Comic To The TV Show Appears To Be…

For fans of ‘The Walking Dead’ television show, it’s been a roller-coaster ride over the past few seasons, with the show-runners proving that they are not afraid to deviate from the story lines laid out in the comic books and rivaling George RR Martin in terms of making no character safe from Death’s sweet embrace.  With this much attrition, however, comes the need to refill the cast, and it appears that the “next contestant” on the screen will be coming courtesy of the comic pages.

For you readers familiar with ‘The Walking Dead’ in comic form, the character believed to be joining the TV cast is none other than Ezekiel.  If you’re not reading the comics – well, first off, what is wrong with you?!  Second, allow us to give you some basic background on the character as he exists in the world of print.

Ezekiel is the leader of a settlement called “The Kingdom.”  Unlike Terminus, Woodbury, and The Saviors’ camp, however, Ezekiel governs The Kingdom and its residents fairly and without major amounts of fear and malice.  The Kingdom itself is a high school campus located in Washington, DC, that is well-fortified with a survivor-built wall to help keep walkers away.

In the comics, Ezekiel is an eccentric older gentleman, who likes to be referred to as “The King” (hence “The Kingdom”) and has, of all things, a pet tiger that he’s managed to keep with him since before the zombie outbreak.  In recent interviews, “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman has expressed enthusiasm for the possibility of having a live tiger on set, and writer/showrunner Scott Gimple side-stepped making a flat-out denial about the possibility of a tiger appearing next season… so keep your eyes out for a tiger in Season 7!

Added to all this is the fact that ‘The Walking Dead’ put out a casting call for a new character, “Augustus,” who matches Ezekiel’s comic-book description: an African-American in his 40s who is needed to bring a mix of “wisdom, oddity, and exuberance.”  Augustus is likely a fake character name being used for cover, as been done many times in recent years with both character names and film titles.

Although no date has been officially released, the seventh season of “The Walking Dead” and its new episodes will likely premiere on AMC in October, as every past season has done.

Snyder & Capullo Finish Epic "Batman" Run With A Love Letter to Gotham !!!!

Snyder & Capullo Finish Epic "Batman" Run With A Love Letter to Gotham !!!!

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for "Batman" #51, on sale now.

The superstar creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo draw the curtain on their best-selling "Batman" run this week, but it has to be asked -- why stop at the 51st issue rather than #52, especially since it's the flagship title of DC Comics' historic New 52 initiative?

The dynamic duo not only shared the reason with CBR News, they also discussed the closing salvo of their opus, including what Gotham means to them both as creators now that they have completed a run largely considered the crown jewel of the publisher's massive 2011 relaunch.

They also revealed details about their next projects as Snyder is set to launch "All-Star Batman" with an all-star roster of artists as part of DC Comics' Rebirth, while Capullo is illustrating a new series for mega-writer Mark Millar.

Snyder also teased what's next for the Court of Owls, including the hope that when he returns to Gotham's secret society, Capullo will join him for the ride.

Snyder and Capullo bid "Batman" farewell with Issue #51

CBR News: I love James Tynion IV and Rafael Albuquerque's work, but something has been nagging at me since the solicitations for May 2016 dropped. Why aren't you finishing your run with the series' final issue, "Batman" #52?

Scott Snyder: [Laughs] We didn't know that there was going to be a Rebirth. And really, it boiled down to schedule. James and Rafael are going to kill it. I know that story up and down, I talked it through with James. He's, obviously, one of my closest friends, as is Rafael. Greg and I talked about the ending of our run a long time ago, and "Batman" #50 was going to be our extravaganza. Then we had one more coda issue before we even realized that DC was going to do Rebirth or any of this kind of stuff. It was long in the cards.

"Batman" #51 is beautifully done. You're right, it lacks the action of #50, but this is really a love letter to Gotham and your entire run. Let me ask you the question that you ask readers to answer, and finish this sentence: "Gotham is… "

Snyder: Gotham is them. It's them, as readers. That's what we were trying to say in the issue. As much as Gotham is this fictional place, it's powered by all of the people that love Batman and read "Batman" and love the mythos.

Growing up in New York, the funny thing that you realize is that the city is the city at the moment that you live in it with the people that you live in it with. And then you all move, or you die, it changes, and it's new stores and new people. You might come back to visit, or you might move out of your neighborhood, but it existed because you guys were together at that moment in that place.

And Gotham is us. It's me and Greg and that fanbase all at the same moment, feeling the same way about Batman. Trying new ideas, trying to make him modern, trying to make him be a hero for right now and face things that we are afraid of right now, as opposed to 10 years ago, 20 years ago, 30 years ago, or even 10 years from now. It's all of us, together.

Greg Capullo: For me, after five years of living in it, Gotham is home.

Though they love Gotham, both creators agree -- the city deserves its reputation

We've talked a lot about the near-symbiotic relationship of Batman and the Joker in the past, but what abut Gotham. What's Batman without Gotham and vice versa?

Capullo: They are definitely linked. They're attached at the hip. I'd say that they are one and the same at this point. It's not to say that Gotham won't survive should Batman perish -- we tried to show in the last arc that it wouldn't be the case. Someone would rise up and be that symbol. But certainly, I would say that Batman is Gotham City, and Gotham is Batman. They are two lungs in one body.

Snyder: Gotham, to me, is this imagined landscape or All-American city that then gets a hero that faces off against the problems of its population. For us, the Red Hood Gang represented gun violence. Riddler was an über-terrorist. Gotham is the place where you get to go where a hero faces off against your biggest fears. Batman is essential to Gotham in that regard.

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" Adds Robert Downey Jr. !!!!

"Spider-Man: Homecoming" Adds Robert Downey Jr. !!!!

It's official: "Iron Man" star Robert Downey Jr. will reprise his role as Tony Stark for Marvel Studios and Sony's joint "Spider-Man" film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downey has just closed a deal to appear in "Spider-Man: Homecoming."

It is unclear at this time if Downey's deal is just for "Homecoming" or includes multiple other Marvel Cinematic Universe installments. Prior to "Homecoming," the star was signed to "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1" and "Part 2."

Robert Downey Jr. Alludes To Possible Role In Solo "Spider-Man" Film

The new "Spider-Man" film will star Tom Holland in the title role, following the character's introduction in Marvel Studios' "Captain America: Civil War," which opens on May 6. It's the latest take on the iconic Marvel Comics character which has seen two previous incarnations at Sony, first played by Tobey Maguire and then by Andrew Garfield.

According to the report, "Civil War" establishes a relationship between Holland's Spider-Man and Tony Stark, which will then lead into "Homecoming."

"Spider-Man: Homecoming's" cast continues to grow after the addition of Laura Harrier, as well as Disney Channel star Zendaya, who recently confirmed reports that she has joined the film's cast. According to the initial report, Zendaya will play a "key role" as a character named Michelle. Additionally, Tony Revolori recently joined the cast as "part of Peter Parker’s high school crowd." Marisa Tomei is also on board to play Aunt May.

In February 2015, Sony and Marvel announced a deal to share live-action rights to the character, which were previously solely under Sony's control. Jon Watts is set to direct the movie, with a screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein.

Spider-Man is scheduled to swing back into theaters in his own feature film on July 7, 2017.

An iconic villain joins the ARTFX+ line-up! The Joker Pre-Order Today !!!!

Kotobukiya’s lineup of statues based on the superheroes and villains of DC Comics continues to grow with the addition of one of the greatest comic book villains ever, the JOKER! Capturing the character’s iconic look from the New 52, Joker arrives to torment the previously released series of “Batman Family” heroes like Batman, Batgirl, Nightwing, Robin, and Red Hood. The Caped Crusader’s archenemy first appeared in comics way back in 1940 and got a very interesting update in the New 52 with a startling appearance and wicked plans for Batman and his allies.

Now the Joker is back and more evil than ever in this highly detailed 1/10 scale statue! There’s no mistaking the gleeful insanity of the Joker and he shows it off as he leans forward, taunting the Batman with weapons in hand.

The psychotic villain wears a snappy black suit with shiny black shoes, a dark gray shirt, black tie, and white gloves. His clothing shifts and creases in his exaggerated pose revealing a slim build and gangly limbs. Joker’s bleached white head is accented by his shockingly green hair and the horrific grin on his face with its beady eyes and mouthful of teeth. The Clown Prince of Crime brandishes a knife in front of him while hiding a pistol behind him. Joker stands just over 7 inches tall (1/10 scale) and like all ARTFX+ statues he has magnets in his feet for extra stability on his included display base. Bring this New 52 villain home for some crazy antics and the perfect contrast to your Batman Family ARTFX+ Statues!
