Mouse Guard To Be Adapted Into Film !!!!!!

Mouse Guard To Be Adapted Into Film !!!!!!

David Petersen's Eisner-winning, creator-owned comic Mouse Guard is going to become a movie from screenwriter Gary Whitta (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story).

Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will co-produce the project alongside Reeves. Following the success of Disney's The Jungle Book, THR reveals that the studio is eager to make a live-action version of the film albeit with CG characters via performance capture, of which Reeves has a lot of experience now.

The series, written and drawn by Petersen, centers on a group of mice in the Middle Ages who protect their community from invasions - both by other mice and by outside forces.

While it's possible that Hollywood was simply waiting for the technology to catch up to Mouse Guard before green lighting a motion picture adaptation, the wait may also have something to do with a series of underperforming mouse movies over the last ten years, including Flushed Away and The Tale of Depereaux. For those eager for more updates on the Mouse Guard movie, stay tuned to Comic-Con where Petersen and Whitta will be fielding fan questions at a Friday afternoon.

The Mouse Guard concept should be pretty self-explanatory, especially if you're able to see the header image above. She's best known for directing television (Better Call Saul, among many others), but has carved an impressive career from the use of highly innovative framing and camera techniques. Some are healers, some are swords experts, while others are expert strategists or craftworkers.

Mouse Guard was originally published by Archaia before moving to Boom!

Play 'Pokemon Go' Without Landing in the ER !!!!!

Play 'Pokemon Go' Without Landing in the ER !!!!!

FRIDAY, July 15, 2016 (HealthDay News) -- Here a Pokemon, there a Pokemon, everywhere a Pokemon!

Just about every millennial seems to be out and about with a smartphone in pursuit of digital monsters via the "Pokemon Go" game. But players distracted by their smartphones risk injury from mishaps like walking into traffic or tripping over a curb.

How can you be safe and still get a burst of activity by playing "Pokemon Go" in public places? The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons is offering advice through its "Digital Deadwalker" campaign.

"We love that these games are bringing children and adults outdoors and encouraging exercise," Dr. Alan Hilibrand, a Philadelphia orthopedic surgeon, said in an academy news release. "But we also want everyone to be mindful of their surroundings as they enjoy this activity. Walking while looking at your phone or electronic device can result in sprains, broken bones and other serious, even fatal, injuries."

Almost 40 percent of Americans have seen an incident caused by distracted walking, according to a recent academy study. About one in four have been in one themselves. Seventy-eight percent of adults call distracted walking a "serious" issue, but less than a third say they usually or always walk while distracted themselves.

The academy offers these tips to avoid a mishap when you're on the "Pokemon Go" -- on foot:

  • Focus on everything around you: People, objects, obstacles.
  • Keep your eyes on your surroundings instead of your phone when you cross into traffic or enter an intersection.
  • Be careful when you cross streets and wait for a traffic light if possible. Watch for pedestrians, cars and bikes.
  • When you reach a curb, look up. Don't look down. Use the same level of caution when you're in the middle of intersections.
  • Stop and get out of the way of other pedestrians if you need to use your cellphone or talk to the person next to you.
  • If you're wearing headphones, set the volume low enough so you can still hear traffic and things around you.

"Pokemon Go" is a free "augmented reality" game that lets players use their phone's camera to capture, train and trade virtual Pokemon characters that can appear without warning in a real-world setting.

But the wildly popular game -- the top grossing app on iTunes, less than a week after its release -- is so enthralling that players are unintentionally placing themselves in harm's way. Unanticipated consequences include sprained ankles, bruises from walking into traffic, trees and lamp posts, risky driving and even some robberies, according to reports from across the United States.

"Gotham" Enlists Former "Walking Dead" Star as the Mad Hatter !!!!!

"Gotham" Enlists Former "Walking Dead" Star as the Mad Hatter !!!!!

Samuel will bring the Mad Hatter to "Gotham."

"Gotham" will welcome former "Walking Dead" star Benedict Samuel as the Mad Hatter in Season 3.

According to Deadline, this version of Jervis Tetch will be

a talented hypnotist teetering on the edge of madness. He arrives in Gotham with an unwavering desire to find his sister, Alice, a young woman who went missing in the city years ago. It is anyone's guess just how far down the rabbit hole he's willing to go in order to find her.

In the comics, Tetch -- aka the Mad Hatter -- is a scientist that uses his own mind-control control technology to control the minds of his victims. Though based on a children's book character, the character is sometimes portrayed as being severely mentally ill, with an underlying darkness to him. The character, who was co-created by Bill Finger, debuted in 1949's "Batman" #49.

Executive producer John Stephens revealed to CBR that the Mad Hatter would come to "Gotham" in Season 3 as early as May. However, no one had been announced for the role at the time.

In addition to his role as The Wolf in "The Walking Dead," Samuel has appeared in "The Beautiful Lie," "The Walk," "Secret City" and more.

Harley Quinn "Transcends Everything," "Suicide Squad" Director Explains !!!!

Harley Quinn "Transcends Everything," "Suicide Squad" Director Explains !!!!

He's crazy, she's crazy, and, almost as an afterthought, they’re all the "Worst Heroes Ever": Warner Bros.’ long-awaited "Suicide Squad" movie opens in less than two weeks, and ifthe trailers are any indication, it devotes a significant amount of screen time to The Joker and Harley Quinn.

But while Jared Leto has done a great job of convincing us he can follow in Heath Ledger's footsteps, all eyes are on Margot Robbie.

It's not simply because she seems to wear sparkly underpants for the majority of the film, either. It's because her character Harley Quinn has become wildly popular in recent years. Bolstered in no small part by "Batman: The Animated Series" nostalgia and video game cameos, Harley has wrangled her own solo comic, a couple of team-up series and a new gang, not to mention a hefty chunk of floor space at Hot Topic. With her cinematic debut just around the corner, she's becoming one of the most highly recognizable female villains in fiction.

What's more, she’s probably the most important female villain to hit the screen -- in any genre -- in a long time. Whatever approach we see in this cinematic rendering of Harley Quinn will undoubtedly influence the character’s depiction in comics, and it may even affect the representation of females as villains in media more generally. Because she’s that popular.

That brings us to the matter of how female villains are treated in comics.

The problems began long ago, when the tradition of hero-as-proxy was only beginning. Certainly one of the most important elements of superhero comics since their inception is their function as a means of escape for the reader. Through characters like Spider-Man, readers are given the feeling that they, too, could be heroes (with or without the radioactive spider-bit). For a long while, those readers were largely assumed to be white, cis-gendered, heterosexual men or boys. That’s why so many comics feature protagonists with those qualities, often engaged with villains who are the "other." There were clear elements of xenophobia and sexism in the early decades, and heteronormativity is almost always king.

As an avid reader, I’m proud to say superhero comics have come a long way in their treatment of women, people of color and the LGBTQ community. But although we continue to demand that our heroes represent more of us, so that more of us may use them as proxies, there are still qualities in mainstream superhero comics that hark back to more disappointing times.

Case in point: The depiction of female villainy expresses the very hypersexualization and diminutization we have largely purged from characterizations of our female heroes. And, although it's tempting to suggest the villainization of sexual promiscuity will act to undermine the tendency of real women to mimic those qualities, or for real men to desire those qualities, it doesn't really work that way. That’s because, unlike male villains, female foes are created to be more like ladies in distress than psychopaths, who need saving rather than shunning.

In other words, female villains aren’t free to be the complex characters their male counterparts are, at least not in traditional superhero comics. Instead, they seem to have all of the same limitations.

New Hawkman & Adam Strange Series Serves Up an Intergalactic Team-up !!!!!

DC Comics has announced a return to the worlds of Rann and Thanagar in a new six-issue miniseries titled "Hawkman and Adam Strange: Out of Time." Re-teaming Adam Strange and Hawkman -- who have been absent from DC's line since the launch of "Rebirth" -- the new monthly series comes from writer Marc Andreyko ("Wonder Woman '77") and artist Aaron Lopresti ("The New 52: Futures End").

"Residing on Earth and out of the hero game, Adam Strange finds himself trying to live a 'normal' life, until he’s literally pulled back into adventure again as a seemingly normal Zeta beam transmission returns him to the planet Rann, where he hopes to be reunited with his beloved Alanna. But instead, he finds the once great city of Ranagar in ruins with millions dead, and the once peaceful Alanna is now calling for the blood of Rann’s oldest enemy, Thanagar, home of the Hawkmen.

Sensing something is amiss, Strange enlists the aid of Thanagarian policeman Katar Hol, aka Hawkman, who is also trying anything possible to avert war. Together the two try and uncover who’s really behind the destruction of Rann while at the same time preventing Rann and Thanagar from marching into interplanetary armageddon!"

Invincible Iron Man !!! Marvel Reveals Black Woman to Assume 'Iron Man' Role !!!!

Invincible Iron Man !!! Marvel Reveals Black Woman to Assume 'Iron Man' Role !!!!

Marvel has revealed that a black woman named Riri Williams will portray next Iron Man. While Williams won't fight crime under the character's moniker, she will don Tony Stark's metal suits as soon as Marvel wraps up their current Civil War II storyline, Time reports.

Riri Williams is the creation of Marvel writer Brian Michael Bendis, who previously created the popular black hispanic character Miles Morales, who assumed the role of Ultimate Spider-Man in 2011.

"One of the things that stuck with me when I was working in Chicago a couple of years ago on a TV show that didn't end up airing was the amount of chaos and violence," Bendis told Time of creating Williams' character. "And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life—just random street violence—and went off to college was very inspiring to me. I thought that was the most modern version of a superhero or superheroine story I had ever heard. And I sat with it for awhile until I had the right character and the right place.

Williams, like Morales, is part of Marvel's larger endeavor to diversify both the ethnicities and genders of their superhero staple; Morales' Spider-Man has been joined in recent years by Kamala Khan, Marvel's first Muslim superhero who fights under the Ms. Marvel mantle, as well as female versions of classic heroes like Thor (Jane Foster) and Wolverine (X-23). X-Men's Ice Man also came out as gay in 2015.

Bendis admitted that it hasn't been an easy task reimagining Marvel's iconic characters as something other than white males. "Some of the comments online, I don’t think people even realize how racist they sound. I’m not saying if you criticize you’re a racist, but if someone writes, 'Why do we need Riri Williams we already have Miles?' that's a weird thing to say," Bendis said. "But increasingly we see less and less of that. Once Miles hit, and Kamala Khan hit and female Thor hit—there was a part of an audience crawling through the desert looking for an oasis when it came to representation, and now that it’s here, you'll go online and be greeted with this wave of love."

Bendis added that Williams was quietly introduced during a recent Iron-Man scene in the ongoing Civil War II series, with more interactions between Williams and Stark promised before the transition. Bendis also cautioned fans that just because Williams will be taking over the Iron-Man role, that doesn't necessarily mean Stark doesn't survive the Civil War II storyline.

"More people are going to be upset that they think they know the ending to Civil War II now than anything we just talked about," Bendis said. "But I can tell you just because we're hearing what we’re saying doesn’t know you mean how Civil War II ends. We're not telling you the end, at all."

Walking Dead # 155 "Call To Arms Story Line " 151,152,153,154,155,156  February 2016 - July 2016

PLOT :

Michonne is fighting the Whisperers, telling Aaron to hold on. She prevents Beta from killing him, and after a brief struggle, she gets the better of him. However a Whisperer sneaks up on her and she is forced to kill it, giving Beta a chance to get free. She chops off the Whisperer's hand and kicks him towards some walkers, which devour him. Beta tackles her to the ground but just as he is about to kill her, Dwight appears with reinforcements.

Beta escapes in the heat of the gunfire as the remaining Whisperers are killed. At the insistence of Dwight, Michonne rushes to Aaron and heads out to the Hilltop on horseback. Michonne tells them to hunt Beta down, however when she is gone, Dwight tells the Militia to move out.

Andrea and Rick are arguing in their house. Andrea is telling Rick to take down the "SILENCE THE WHISPERS" signs, to no avail. Rick says the people of the communities need to direct their anger towards someone, and it can't be him. He reveals to Andrea of the plan to hurt Lydia and how he was attacked. When asked, he says he is manipulating the residents for their own good. Andrea says he sounds like Negan, and Rick pauses for a moment, before telling her that there's something she should know.

Negan is engaging in some "friendly" conversation with Alpha, making crude jokes. After a while, she asks how he survived so long. He tells her he was with another group, but they "booted him out". She asks him if he's looking for revenge on these people. He says it's not the kind of thing he'd ask for on a first date. As he leans in, Alpha asks him to stop, but he continues making sexual remarks, leading to Alpha punching him in the face, prompting Negan to apologise, saying "I can tell when I crossed a line".

Beta suddenly appears and, having witnessed Alpha strike Negan, he offers to kill Negan on the spot. Alpha refuses the offer, and Negan remarks that Beta is "really tall". Beta worldlessly grabs Negan by the throat with one hand, lifts him into the air and pins him against a tree. He tells them about his encounter with Michonne, Aaron and the Militia. Negan admits he lied, saying "..When I'm scared out of my fucking mind and pissing my pants in the most manliest way possible, I will lie through my fucking teeth". Alpha orders him to explain himself. He doesn't, saying Beta is scary, and to just kill him if that's what they're going to do. Alpha asks him if he's scared, to which he replies "no". He says he lived longer than he expected to live. When Alpha asks him why he came, Negan says he has a "hell of a lot to offer" her.

Siddiq is watching out for Michonne and Aaron. Rick approaches, asking Siddiq to tell him if he sees anything. He tells Rick he'll be "the first to know". Elsewhere, Michonne is riding back with Aaron, begging him to hang on.

At the Hilltop, Carl awakes to find Lydia watching him. She tells him she wouldn't be there without him. Maggie and Brianna are tending to a horse. Maggie tells her that she doesn't like being kept in the dark, saying she wants word from Alexandria. They suddenly hear someone yelling to "OPEN THE GATE!" and Michonne soon rushes in with Aaron. She yells at them to get Doctor Carson, telling them Aaron's not breathing.

Elsewhere, Dwight puts down a zombified Brandon. Then crossing back over the border, Dwight tells the Militia to hurry, saying that they are in danger. He says "we engaged with the enemy on enemy territory. This is an act of war".

Spider-Gwen "Disney Infinity" Design Revealed !!!!!

Spider-Gwen "Disney Infinity" Design Revealed !!!!!

In the wake of "Disney Infinity's" sudden cancellation, a number of scrapped "Infinity"designs are hitting the Internet. A few days ago, fans got a look at Disney Games' abandoned take on Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange. Now, an exclusive video on the Infiniteer Adventures YouTube channel reveals "Disney Infinity's" spin on Marvel Comics' alternate-reality web-slinger Spider-Gwen.

"Disney Infinity" was Disney Games' entry in the lucrative toys-to-life market, in which users can link toys with their video game consoles to unlock exclusive digital characters. Since 2013, Disney has launched three different editions of "Disney Infinity," each one focusing on a specific Disney-owned franchise: "Disney Infinity 1.0" featured classic Disney characters, "2.0" introduced Marvel superheroes, and 2015's "Disney Infinity 3.0" added "Star Wars" characters to the mix. To outside observers, the game seemed successful, and "Disney Infinity" regularly beat other toys-to-life games like "Skylanders" and "LEGO Dimensions" at the marketplace.

As such, it was a big surprise when Disney cancelled "Disney Infinity" and shuttered its Disney Games division in early May. Sources claim that "Disney Infinity" was, in many ways, a victim of its own success: based on the promising returns from "Disney Infinity 1.0," Disney over-produced "Disney Infinity" figures, which sat unsold on store shelves and ultimately doomed the franchise.

"Disney Infinity's" cancellation was clearly a surprise to its developers as well as its fans, as Disney Games had a fair amount of content waiting in the wings. A "Finding Dory" playset came out a couple of weeks ago to absolutely no fanfare, and figures like Doctor Strange and Spider-Gwen look like they were in the final planning stages.

Spider-Gwen feels like a natural fit for "Disney Infinity." The character, created by Jason Latour and Robbi Rodriguez first debuted in 2014's "Edge of the Spider-Verse #2" as part of Marvel's "Spider-Verse" crossover event. The character, a superpowered version of Peter Parker's doomed girlfriend Gwen Stacy, was an instant hit, and Spider-Gwen quickly became a popular cosplay subject at conventions around the world. An ongoing "Spider-Gwen" comic book series and plenty of merchandise followed.

In Disney Games' absence, Disney remains committed to making video games based on its key franchises; however, going forward, titles will be licensed out to third parties instead of being produced in-house.
