Hulu has inked a multi-year deal with AMC Networks that includes the exclusive streaming rights to the "Walking Dead" companion series "Fear the Walking Dead."
Announced this morning in New York City, the agreement grants Hulu the exclusive subscription video on demand rights to new and upcoming dramas and comedies from AMC, IFC, BBC AMERICA, SundanceTV and WE tv.
“We believe in the combination of compelling content and technology to engage audiences and deliver viewers back to the linear television experience,” Ed Carroll, AMC Networks' chief operating officer, said in a statement. “AMC Networks has been the original home of some of the most popular shows in the history of online streaming, and we are excited about this new partnership with Hulu, a growing company that has created a network-branded environment for content in a highly competitive space.”
"Fear the Walking Dead" is set in Los Angeles prior to the apocalyptic zombie outbreak featured in "The Walking Dead." It stars Cliff Curtis as divorced teacher Sean Cabrera and Kim Dickens as the female lead, a guidance counselor named Nancy. Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey play Dickens' children, Nick and Ashley.
Already picked up for two seasons, the series will debut this summer with a six-episode first season.
