New Animation

 

Reported Thursday by Variety, DC Entertainment announced a handful of new animation projects based on existing Justice League toy lines, including two "Batman Unlimited" movies and three 15-minute shorts of "Super Friends." e.

The first of the two "Batman Unlimited" films will arrive direct-to-video in stores on May 12; the sequel will be released sometime in the second half of 2015. The movies' rosters will feature Batman, the Flash, Red Robin, Nightwing and Green Arrow as they come up against Penguin and his horde of cyber animals. Both films will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD.

Additionally, "Batman Unlimited" will inspire 22 two-minute shorts, which will be available for free across several digital platforms and a companion app. "Batman Unlimited" currently has action figures on the shelves now that are produced by Mattel and feature a new look for the titular character.

"Super Friends," on the other hand, is based on the Fisher-Price Imaginext action figures and play sets. The shorts will appear in the spring alongside a similar app with the goal to connect audiences to the toys and characters.
